The dogs need your help.  Please take a few minutes to read this and act soon.  Then forward this to everyone you know.

Julia Hudson is a terrible breeder in Lancaster County Nebraska.  The Department of Agriculture and the sheriff’s office have visited often and found horrible, horrible conditions.  They have found conditions typical of any puppy mill:  feces piled in cages; filthy water; small, cramped cages and dogs with their teeth literally rotting in their mouths.  What makes this horrible, according to  Hearts United who ended up with some of the dogs, is the dogs with open wounds and holes rotted through upper jaws and into sinus cavities,

The county filed charges a few months ago. Last week, Hudson pled no contest to animal cruelty and neglect and she was found guilty.  The prosecutor has worked hard on this case and is to be commended.  The hearing for the sentencing is October 25.

Last year, we worked to get a law on the books (Nebraska Statute 28-1019).  This law would make it clear to judges that they have the right to prohibit someone found guilty from owning any animals for 5 years. This simply must be applied to this case.  It would be horrible to allow this treatment to continue.

These poor little dogs are looking to you for help – each one of you. Our voices are all they have.

Today, please write to Judge  Phillips and ask him specifically to include  Nebraska Statute 28-1019 as part Julia Hudson's sentence, so she cannot own animals again for a period of five years.  She has had plenty of chances to change the way she cares for her dogs and has chosen not to do so.  It is time for the law to step in and stop further abuse and neglect of these dogs as well as any new ones she might acquire.  Please ask him to consider her continued abuse and neglect in his pre-sentence investigation.   Also ask that the dogs currently on her property be turned over to Hearts United for Animals immediately after sentencing.  Include the case number and be very polite and professional.

Case: State v. Julia Hudson

Case number: CR13-2975

Address letters to:

The Honorable Timothy Phillips

Lancaster County Court

575 S. 10th Street, 2nd Floor

Lincoln, NE 68508

Hearts United is planning a demonstration at the Courthouse on the day of sentencing  - we will be joining them.  Please watch the NHS website for details of the demonstration.  We would like to show law enforcement and the Department of Agriculture that puppy mills must be stopped and the owner’s dogs removed immediately, and for as long as possible.  Let’s stand together for the dogs!

Please forward this to everyone!  We must be the voice for those poor dogs – we are their only voice.

Sign for Genevieve's Mom

Genevieve asked to make a sign for her mom.  She picked out the wording for the sign. We started with an Artist's Loft 11"x14" white canvas.  Genevieve painted the canvas Turquoise Craftsmart paint with a foam brush.   She wanted to add some bling.  We went thru my "stash" and found some bling and cute flowers that had bling in the center of the flowers.
Genevieve is holding her completed sign and anxious to give it to her mom!  Genevieve told me when she grows up she wants to be like me make crafts.  (Unlike me) she will  put them on E-bay and try to sell them! Future Entrepreneur! You go girl!

Genevieve's Sign

I am watching my 9 year old Granddaughter for the weekend.  She asked me if I would make a sign for her.  She picked out the wording.  V.I.P.M. = Very Important Princess Model.  She enjoys pretending to model her bathing suit or the dress up clothes in the closet.  I saw the words "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" in the Silhouette on-line store.  I made my own version using my free fonts.  She saw the words printed and in cursive.  Genevieve liked the "cursive" font better.
This is Genevieve holding her sign she designed!
The Artist's Loft canvas was purchased at Michael's craft store.  The canvas is 11"x14".  The canvas originally white and was painted Ebony black  Americana acrylic paint.  Pink vinyl was cut out with the Silhouette Cameo and transferred to the dried canvas.

Sandy Hook Christmas Poem

Incredibly moving poem written by Cameo Smith in response to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. This was read on Dr. Phil on 12-19-12. My thoughts & prayers go to all the families, friends, first responders and Elementary school staff victims of the shooting and anyone else affected by this shooting.

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
...
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Easter card 2013

I used Stampin Up retired Stamp Set Bunny Buddies for the Bunny, butterflies and eggs.  I used the words "Happy Easter" from Stampin Up "Heaven Blessed" stamp set.  I used Stampin Up punches: large oval and scalloped oval.  I used Stampin Up water color pencil, water color crayons and a blending pen.  This is the Stair Step card technique.  Paper is We R Memory Keepers called Simply Spring line. All edges were inked using Stampin Up inks.   Directions for Side Step Card found here:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/sidestepcard/

Superhero in Disguise L.O.

My 3 year old grandson Owen went shopping with his mother.  He kept this hat on his head the entire time. He removed his hat at home to reveal he had been traveling with LEGO's UNDERNEATH HIS HAT during the entire shopping trip!!!  My grandson is such a character! I used my Cricut to cut out the title and hat.  I embossed the hat with Stampin Up folder.  I cut the bat using the Cricut.  I used Stampin Up punches for the banner flags, the tag and the circle punch.  I used Memory Box die for the lamp. I used the fiskers roller to give ripple dimension to the flags along side the picture.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to design & cut out the legos that are in the hat.  Hope you enjoy!

St. Patrick's Day cards

I made these cards for St. Patrick's Day for my siblings, my husband's siblings and my adult children.  I used Stampin Up products.  I inked the green paper with a pattern using swirls stamp.  I punched the shamrock leaves out with Stampin Up  HEART TO HEART punch. I used a Martha Stewart hydranga punch for the purple flower.  I used purple ink on the petal.  I used a small green heart for the base of the unopened hydranga. I used Stampin Up sentiments "Happy St. Patrick's Day".  I used the Stampin Up Scallop Trim Border punch for the bottom of the base of the card.  I inked around the edges using Stampin Up inks.  I embossed a green piece of paper using the polka dot Cuttlebug embossing folder.   Hope you enjoy! (forgot to mention I found the card idea on Pinterest which lead me to this blog: http://annscreativemoments.com/2010/03/16/668/)
